Senior Research Technician

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, Sanger Sequencing, and immunocytochemistry
- Assists in the training and supervision of technical staff on a variety of molecular techniques
- Optimizes various molecular biology assays to ensure consistent and reliable results
- Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set up and maintenance of equipment
- Works closely with project coordinators, staff scientists, trainees, and technical staff to ensure the success of projects
- Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. Suggest technical and procedural improvements in testing methods.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in molecular, biochemical and cell biological techniques.
- Experience in techniques such as molecular cloning, PCR, western blot, cell culture, transfection, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
- Motivated to manage an independent lab project
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Reliable, conscientious, and detail-oriented
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to be highly productive in a fluid and collaborative work environment
