Senior Research Technician

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, Sanger Sequencing, and immunocytochemistry
  • Assists in the training and supervision of technical staff on a variety of molecular techniques
  • Optimizes various molecular biology assays to ensure consistent and reliable results
  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set up and maintenance of equipment
  • Works closely with project coordinators, staff scientists, trainees, and technical staff to ensure the success of projects
  • Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. Suggest technical and procedural improvements in testing methods.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in molecular, biochemical and cell biological techniques.
  • Experience in techniques such as molecular cloning, PCR, western blot, cell culture, transfection, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
  • Motivated to manage an independent lab project
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators
  • Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Reliable, conscientious, and detail-oriented
  • Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly productive in a fluid and collaborative work environment
